 Patagonia
holds famous huge granite towers such as Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre and Torres
del Paine. Patagonia is also famous for its extreme weather. This extreme weather sometimes leaves climbers without a good attempt at reaching the summit. It may be just a matter of luck, but it is also having enough time to wait out the bad weather and being prepared to climb when the window of climbable weather arrives.
There are many smaller towers that are not as technical to climb and
not as high to ascent. Southern Patagonia is not for beginners, you need
to have good previous experience in mountaineering and rock climbing
before attempting any of these climbs of Patagonian towers. Aguja de la "S", Guillaumet, Saint
Exupery are some of the "first steps" for reaching the skills
for the big towers.
 Season: November through March.
How many days: One week is the minimum for attempting one of the
smaller towers.

 Around
Bariloche there are many climbing crags to spend many days
of great climbing. Cerro Catedral and especially the towers and needles around Refugio Frey have first class golden granite.
It is one of the best traditional climbing schools in South America.
People from all around the world come to climb at Frey, where the weather
is usually much warmer and more stable than in southern Patagonia.
Season: For climbing courses and guidings the best season
is from December to April
